Rhoda Needlman is the recipient of the title "Master Pastelist" awarded her by the Pastel Society of America and a member of the National Association of Women Artists. Her creativity, brilliant colors and refined sense of composition have resulted in unique abstract paintings. She has received many awards and is in many private collections. She is an accomplished violinist which enhances her artistic expression. A feature article about her and her painting technique was published in the Jan/Feb 2002 issue of The Pastel Journal Magazine.She was honored with the prestigious Pearl Kalikow Award at the PSA's 28th Annual Exhibition at the National Arts Club, New York, and received the Merit Award for Abstract from The Pastel Journal Magazine, March/April 2001 issue. Her work was published in the Best of Pastel 2, (Rockport Publishers). She has exhibited in many museums and galleries, some of whcih are: Butler Institute of American Art, Ohio; Heckscher Museum, NY; Blauvelt Art Museum, NJ; Hermitage Museum, VA; Saginaw Arts Museum, MI; Nassau County Museum of Art, NY; Pen & Brush Club, NY; National Arts Club, NY; and many more. In 1999, her work was in a traveling exhibition which reached several colleges in the USA. In 2000, her painting was included in the Feminist Expo Millenium Collection, Baltimore, MD. Comments and Description of my Work: My pastel paintings are on waterproof Pastelboard, manufactured by Ampersand Company. My interest in cosmology, particle physics and my love of color is manifested in these paintings.
