Sam C Dietze is an artist from Pennsylvania who became interested in astronomy at an early age. He obtained a degree in astronomy from Penn State and also took art courses.

He has exhibited his work in individual shows and group exhibits, locally and nationally, and is an award winning artist. Individual showings have been in libraries, planetariums, arts centers, and colleges. Group exhibits were in member only shows, art museums, arts festivals, historical societies, shopping malls, exhibits in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, PA, Louisville, KY, and Minneapolis, MN, to name a few. Over 25 years Sam has worked as an artist in various media, but has exclusively concentrated on acrylic painting over the past 13 years.

He likes to paint landscapes and space scenes, painting from real life or the imagination or sometimes combining the two styles

He works on small paintings in the field which can be completed in a few hours and larger ones in his studio which may take several months to complete.

He gets his inspiration from sunsets, clouds, trees, the night sky, views through the telescope, and anything related to astronomy.

He has had memberships in various arts organizations over the years of local and national significance, including the IAAA. Sam thinks it is important to promote the arts and astronomy to the general public whenever the opportunity arises.

He has been an artist in residance and has talked to art groups and astronomy clubs and has promoted this field to people of all ages from kids to senior citizens. Sam's art may be viewed at: http://www.pbase.com/astronaturearts.
