Julie Rodriguez Jones, member of the International Association of Astronomical Artists (IAAA.org) has a primary emphasis of space art. Julie's art has appeared on the cover of books, been in magazines and there is a chapter about her art in "Women of Space: Cool Careers on the Final Frontier" by Laura Woodmansee. Julie has also created several pieces of corporate art and has a variety of awards and honors in the U.S. and abroad. Julie has been known to squeeze in pieces of space art even in her non-astronomical pieces and was just awarded the grand prize in 2005 by a leading California vintner for her piece "Beneath the Moon" which can now be seen in 49 countries via the distribution of posters from Ironstone Vineyards promoting its Obsession wine. Julie says, "If it weren't for Hubble, my art probably wouldn't have taken the direction it did as it was one of 3 key elements when I began creating space art." Julie's space art is also on the cover of "Grandfather's Song" by Jake George, just published in 2005 and another piece incorporating a space image has been accepted for the cover of "A New Dawn" by Jake George due for publication in 2006. Julie left her life-long career of writing research and development contracts for the University of California's Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in 2003 to pursue her art full time. Julie's space scapes have been shown in galleries across the United States from New York City's Soho District to San Francisco's Palace of Fine Arts. Her work is currently on exhibit at the University of Nevada Reno's Fleischmann Planetarium.
