Building NICMOS

The Near Infrared Camera and Multi-Object Spectrometer (NICMOS) is a scientific instrument installed on the Hubble Space Telescope (HST). Functioning as Hubble's "heat sensor", the instrument was designed to observe in the near infrared region of the spectrum. It operated continuously from 1997 to 1999, and from 2002 to 2008.
