Internship in Science Journalism: ESO ePOD (European Southern Observatory education and Public Outreach Department)

Job Description:
In the education and Public Outreach Department office you will work with a professional team of science communicators in preparing ESA/Hubble and ESO news and photo releases, publications, web pages, video scripts, and other public communication activities.
Requirements:
- Experience in public science communication, i.e. writing articles, press releases, scripts etc. that communicates scientific information to a broader audience
- Fluent or very good English
- Very good MS Office applications skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Very good communication skills
- Reasonable basic knowledge of astronomy
- Can work independently
Remuneration:
We offer a salary of 600 EUR net per month and the possibility of free accommodation in an ESO owned flat shared with other students in Garching near Munich.

Job Description:
You will work with professional graphic experts and video animators on a wide spectrum of tasks, including producing high-end graphics for printed matter, TV footage and web pages, DTP, image processing, scanning film as well as hard-copies, exhibition preparations such as mounting and framing exhibition panels, and packing and distribution activities.
Requirements:
- Preferably student in graphic design, 3D, new media or similar
- Good English
- Experience with some of the following: graphics design, illustration, 3D modeling and rendering, video editing, authoring, web design, Flash and Flash programming, layout, etc.
- Familiarity with some of the standard graphics software packages: Photoshop, CorelDraw, Cinema 4D, InDesign, Premiere, Encore, AfterEffects, Flash, DreamWeaver, etc.
- Good Communication skills
- Can work independently
