The Host

In this picture you are able to see inside a planetary birth place. Many gas giants are swirling around a sun-like star. Most of these planets will collide or shut out of the system. If two protoplanets collide, the radiation from the star will strip off their gas and a rocky (maybe earth-like) planet will remain. The planets are surrounded by a bow shock of loose, ionised gas.
