New in version 2.3

Notes on performance:

Letting Photoshop use all available memory can significantly increase the performance of FITS Liberator. Changing this setting is done through the menu Edit, going to Preferences and then choosing Performance. Here it is possible to adjust the amount of memory (RAM) used by Photoshop and increasing to e.g. 100% can increase the performance of FITS Liberator significantly.

When opening files directly from a network drive performance may decrease especially when zooming and panning the preview image. If performance problems are encountered it is recommended that the file is copied to the local hard disk drive before opening in FITS Liberator.

If several (large) files are opened into Photoshop performance may decrease a bit, however, the plugin has been thoroughly benchmarked and it has been found to be significantly faster than previous versions in all cases.

When a calculation intensive operation is initiated, like e.g. changing the stretch function, the plugin will not respond to any user input until the calculations are done or the user presses the escale (Esc) button. A small delay from pressing the escape button till the plugin cancels the operation may be experienced.

Notes on new options

A new button labeled Options has been added to the Graphical User Interface (GUI). Clicking this button opens a new window where a range of options can be set. The initial guess can be changed between the following:

The default stretch function can be changed through the drop-down button labeled Stretch. Likewise, the default scaled peak level can be changed in the textfield labeled Scaled Peak Level.

The pane labeled Histogram Markers provides a range of various markers that can be enabled in the histogram including the zero, background and peak levels and a range of the available statistical data.

The options pop-up window also provides two buttons. The Clear History button deletes all preferences stored by the FITS Liberator and the button Defaults sets the options to their default values. These markers will all appear with different colors.
