Panning the galaxy cluster MACS J0025.4-1222

This panning shot shows the sheer size of cluster MACS J0025. The countless background objects are galaxies, many comparable in size to our own Milky Way. The NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope was used to map dark matter (coloured in blue). NASA?s Chandra X-ray Observatory data enabled astronomers to accurately map the ordinary matter (shown in pink).
