The centre of the Lagoon Nebula over time
This is not the first time Hubble observed the Lagoon Nebula. It has done so twice in the past. While the two older observations were both made with the decommissioned Wide Field Planetary Camera 2, the new image was made using the Wide Field Camera 3, which was installed during the last servicing mission in 2009.
