SN 1987a

A heavy star in the Large Magellanic Cloud exploded on 1987 February 23. On the same day, eleven neutrinos had finished the long flight of 168,000 light years, came to Gifu Prefecture in Japan and left the footprints in a huge tank, Kamiokande. Now, there are supernova remnants around this star. http://www.spacetelescope.org/images/html/opo9904a.html . Original Photo Credit: Hubble Heritage Team (AURA/STScI/NASA/ESA)
